Stainless Steel 348 Tubing contains mostly iron, chromium (18–20%), nickel (8–10%), columbium (niobium), and up to 0.08% carbon maximum. This stabilized austenitic stainless steel has better resistance to intergranular corrosion. Its mechanical properties are tensile strength of ~620 MPa, yield strength of ~240 MPa, and elongation of 40% in 50 mm, maintaining durability as well as formability. The alloy is particularly famous for its superior weldability, oxidation resistance, and stability at high temperatures, making it appropriate for high-stress, high-heat applications in critical industrial processes.
