SMO 254 Tubing is a high-alloy stainless steel that consists of about 20% chromium, 18% nickel, 6% molybdenum, along with small amounts of nitrogen (~0.2%) and copper (~0.7%). This unique blend gives it outstanding resistance to pitting (PREN > 42), crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking caused by chlorides. Its mechanical properties include a tensile strength of roughly 650 MPa, yield strength of 300 MPa, and an elongation of 35–40%. SMO 254 is known for its high toughness, excellent weldability, and ability to maintain strength and corrosion resistance even in high-temperature and highly saline or acidic environments, making it a top choice for demanding service conditions.
