Stainless Steel 316H Welded Tubing is an austenitic composition of 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum, with a slightly higher carbon content (0.04–0.10%) to increase creep and high-temperature strength. This tubing has a tensile strength of 515 MPa and yield strength of 205 MPa, and hence it is found to be suitable for service at elevated temperatures. Molybdenum addition makes the material resistant to pitting and chloride corrosion, whereas addition of increased carbon results in enhanced mechanical properties. It finds application in heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and chemical processing equipment in the presence of hostile environments.
