Stainless Steel 317 and 317L ERW Pipes are chromium-nickel-molybdenum austenitic alloyed with 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum, providing them greater pitting, crevice corrosion, and acidic corrosion resistance. 317L grade has low carbon content and hence is suitable for welded structures by reducing carbide precipitation. Both the grades show tensile strength of ~515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of approximately 35–40%, having good formability and durability. These pipes are designed for processes that require corrosion resistance, strength, and ease of fabrication.
