Stainless Steel 317/317L Heat Exchanger Tubing contains mostly iron with 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–5% molybdenum to increase its resistance to hostile chemical environments. The low carbon content of the 317L grade gives better weldability and minimized carbide precipitation risk. It boasts superior mechanical properties, such as tensile strength of 70–90 ksi (483–620 MPa) and yield strength of 30–45 ksi (207–310 MPa). It has outstanding pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, superior high-temperature strength, and superb structural integrity, which makes it extremely good for severe industrial use.
