Stainless Steel 409 Pipes consist mainly of iron with 10.5–12% chromium and minute traces of carbon, thereby being resistant to corrosion and oxidation. These ferritic stainless steel tubes provide tensile strength in the range of 450–550 MPa and have excellent ductility, which provides ease of fabrication and weldability. SS 409 has high thermal conductivity and has resistance to high temperatures, thus finding its use in high-temperature and high-performance applications such as exhaust systems for automobiles. It is inexpensive, mechanically stable, and also resistant to extreme conditions, making it a viable option for high-temperature and high-performance applications.
