Stainless Steel 420 Seamless Tubes have 12–14% chromium, 0.15–0.4% carbon, and traces of manganese, silicon, and sulfur. It is a martensitic stainless steel that can be heat-treated for increased hardness. It has a tensile strength of 650–800 MPa, yield strength of around 345 MPa, and hardness of up to 50 HRC. SS 420 is superior in terms of wear resistance, polishability, and moderate corrosion resistance. Its mechanical strength, decent machinability, and affordable performance make it superior for use in mechanically tough applications combined with aesthetically pleasing finishes.
